The Story Continues With You!

The fact that The Tale of the Shrinking Toilets ends unresolved and seemingly void of hope is no accident. The Tale of the Shrinking Toilets is an allegory. The intention is to leave you feeling unsettled and unsatisfied but with a new sense of enlightenment about an epidemic that you can help change.

This story is dedicated to all people with disabilities and their loved ones who are forced to navigate the frustrating landscape of a world that is neither kind nor accessible.

The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) has made great strides for the disability community but has fallen short of bringing accessibility to all sectors of life. One of the greatest shortfalls is in the form of universal-sized changing tables in public restrooms.

The ADA mandates that baby changing stations be present in both men’s and women’s restrooms. Babies do not stay babies for long! Most grow up and eventually learn to use regular-sized toilets. The reality, however, is not the same for someone with a disability that requires personal care in the restroom. These people often don’t outgrow the need for a changing table.

Individuals with disabilities, and their loved ones, are cut off and isolated because of inaccessibility. This is not fiction.

This is reality. Thankfully, there is a solution to this crisis. Installing universal-sized changing stations in public restrooms can make all the difference in the world. Be a part of the solution. Do not be afraid of a little potty talk.

The proceeds of this book will go towards establishing a Universal Changing Table Scholarship Fund. Money raised will be used to make our world a more accessible place by installing universal changing tables in public spaces.
